There is zero reason for leaving your play area to be as debilitating as it currently is

I accidentally weave a little too far, and suddenly I can’t see, my character isn’t moving, and the opponent gets a second or two of free shots that more than likely have the counterpunch bonus on. Why does this game punish proper footwork just because I’m not rich enough to have a massive open space in my home???
