Need Reassurance
I'm a Fed married to a government contractor. I have about 17 years in FERs and about $700K in my TSP. Spouse has $300k in an IRA. We are both 47 with a small child. We are both very vulnerable to RIFs. We rent in the DC area and have a year's worth of rent saved.
If we can be disciplined and not touch our TSP and IRA, we should still have a decent retirement (near my in-laws). But, my anxiety is through the roof. I want to put everything in the G fund from C fund. That makes no sense if I want this amount to grow. I could be very risk tolerant when I thought my job was safe, but now. I have no idea.
I could also use reassurance that we'll be okay if we don't touch the TSP and IRA until age 62+.
Update/Edit: Thank you for the responses. I think I'm trying to get control over my life again, but I have a solid strategy in place and shouldn't try to change the strategy because I'm super anxious. If adjustments are made, I should make them with my our retirement strategy in mind or if our risk tolerance changes.
