Korra Season 1 Is Really Mid

First of all, the main conflict isn't shown enough. The show says there massive inequality between benders and non benders, yet it's never shown enough. The only evidence we get is the council being run only by benders, that's it.

The show tried to add criminals robbing a non benders store as more proof, but criminality doesn't show oppression. Also, the richest guy in the city is a nonbender, so I never felt the inequality.

Second of all, amons power to take away bending is never explained. Like not in the slightest, the villain of the series shouldn't have an extremely op unexplained power like that.

Third of all, Korra is kinda unlikeable. Now I'm not one of those Korra haters who acts like she's the worst character ever. But Im not a big fan of her either.

The fact she could bend 3 elements at 4 makes no sense. No other avatar has done it, and the fact she was able to learn to bend 2 other elements with no teacher makes no sense. There's really no excuse for it and it just felt like meta commentary for the sake of it. It was unnecessary and kinda a plot hole.

Korra as a character is very rocky. Most of the time, shes fine I guess, but sometimes she just pissed me off. Like when she destroyed an old relic for a dead culture with the same element that was used to wipe it out. Then blames him for it doesn't get much flack for it. She also continues to insult and disobey tension, despite him being nothing but nice and patient with her. There's also another seen where mako is trying to sneak to find bolin, and Korra just blows the door open, which is kinda shitty of her to do.

Fourth of all, the main cast needed some work. Mako is boring to me and very brood. Asami is also boring in this season to me. Neither of them are bad, but I just don't care for them. The love triangle was also just a waste of time and amounted to nothing in the end.

Fifth of all, Korea's Air Bending didn't sit right it me. Now I'm not even going to debate on wether or not it was a plot hole being able to bend air after her bending was taken away. But I don't understand it because the avatar is implied to have the ability to bend every element thier whole lives. So I don't understand how she bedned after her bending was taken away.

But besides all that, I don't like the way she airbends because it feels like she's not changing her style for it. When anng bended outside his native element, it feels like he's adapting to that element by how he's moves, even with earth. Korra doesn't feel like she's adapting to an air bending way of thinking. She's literally bends air like she bends for or earth.

Now you might be wondering why I don't just call Korra bad instead of just mid, here's why.

Korra production is amazing. Everything for the art style, to the animation, to the soundtrack and voice acting is top tier. The fight scenes are amazing too.

Amon is also one of the best characters in LOK period. His powers and backstory is so interesting. He's threatening and has a good motive for what he does.

There are some good side characters, like tenzin and his kids, lin, and bolins decent too.

So overall, is give this season a 6. Not terrible but had alot of room for improvement. Not as nearly as bad as season 2 tho.
