So locals not get bit by mosquitos much?

Pretty much every Thai person I’ve met (besides my wife) never seems to get bit by mosquitos. Or at least they say. Can any locals elaborate on this?

Is it just because they don’t have a histamine reaction and don’t notice?

When I’m down in the islands especially, no one takes any precautions whatsoever but never see any mosquito bites.

Someone help me understand this.
