The hover during kissing

Hi!

I've been lurking here for a while but had to make my first post because this confuses me. Recently I’ve been loving some of the newer BL series -im not naming them so I don’t have to put a spoiler tag on. Ive always seen the hover but with these new ones, I guess I’m more invested so the hover has been bothering me more than usual.

And what I mean by the hover, is when people are kissing but their upper bodies aren’t touching? It looks so uncomfortable for the guy on top. At least it does to me.

Why does the hover happen? It seems to be mostly a gmmtv thing since it doesn’t seem to be an issue with other series.

Is this something known and complained about?
