Dentist has me anxious about my symptoms, facial tingles & numbness
On and off my whole life I’ve always had jaw stiffness and constantly clench my jaw even in my sleep along with teeth grinding, my jaw also makes a crackling noise most of the time when I eat, I also can’t chew for a long period of time because I get an ache in my jaw.
I have put this down to me maybe having TMJ and stress, but a couple of months ago I had such a scary experience. I was in a rush to help out in the house so I quickly got dressed and brushed my teeth fast, I was really rough to be honest brushing and I got to to my front left tooth and brushed it, I suddenly felt a shock in my face for a split second (it didn’t hurt) as I touched the gum with my brush and i immediately freaked out.
A few mins later my left cheek went tingly and a tiny bit numb along with my upper left lip.. I could still move it completely and it didn’t hurt but it was a very strange feeling. The tingling stayed for like 2 or 3 days and went away then.. I went to my doctor and she had no answers she ruled out Bell’s palsy and stroke.
Fast forward today, 4 months later I had my dentist appointment (in my country you wait at least 2-3 months for an appointment) I told her what had happened and she said she never heard of that before and it’s nothing to do with the teeth and that I need to see a neurologist which my doctor will not take me seriously for. So now I’m very concerned.. I put it down to the nerve not liking the way I was brushing lol
What do I do at this stage if it happens again ? Is this a symptom of TMJ or something worse like TN ( really hope not)
Worst part is I had to get a filling today on the upper left side and my left cheek is feeling tingly 5 hours later.
