Troubleshooting: Switch Not Recognizing 256GB SD Card After Upgrade

so i would like to start off that i'm only 2 days into this entire switch modding thing so bear with my bad explaining.

I purchased a Switch that came with a 128GB SD card preloaded with pirated software. Using tools like the DBI Installer, I was able to download and install games without any issues. Later, I decided to upgrade to a 256GB SD card. To transfer my data, I backed up the contents of the 128GB SD card to my PC and copied them onto the new 256GB card. This setup worked flawlessly for a month or two.

However, after installing Super Smash Bros. via a file transfer app, I encountered an issue where the Switch displayed an error saying, “SD card is removed” while playing the game. Unsure of the cause, I copied the backup from the old 128GB SD card to the 256GB card again, hoping to fix the problem. Unfortunately, the issue persisted, and I started getting the error message: “Failed to init or mount SD!” when attempting to inject the payload using TegraRCM.

I decided to start fresh. I formatted the 256GB SD card to FAT32, followed the guide by L3gendaryBanana, and placed Hats Pack in the root directory of the SD card. Then, I plugged the SD card into my Switch and injected the payload using TegraRCM. However, I encountered the same error message: “Failed to init or mount SD!”

To troubleshoot further, I reverted to my original 128GB SD card, formatted it, downloaded Hat’s Pack again, and followed the same setup process. This time, everything worked perfectly.

Now, I’m wondering if my 256GB SD card might be defective. I can still read and write files to it using my PC’s SD card reader, but the card isn’t being recognized by my Switch. Could the SD card be faulty, or is there another issue at play?
