Co-op question

So the wife and I usually play a pretty co-op focused playstyle. She tanks, I heal. She builds the military, I build the walls. On certain Civ type games, we sign a pact, I research and expand like mad, she is free to put all resources to the military. Is that playstyle that's pretty quick to get started on Stellaris? I've played just a little, but not as much in the multiplayer vein.

Also, is there a YouTube series or creator you can point to for me to git gud? To put it in perspective, I'm not quite a beginner, but not quite well versed in anything.
