Having trouble streaming to my steam deck in desktop mode

So i tried looking it up and found zilch, but about a month ago, I was using my steam deck in desktop mode to watch netflix, hulu, crunchyroll, and hbo max, and then I booted it up the next day and all of them give me an error message on trying to load any movie or show. notably, netflix tells me to change my chrome content protection settings. i thought it might be an issue with chrome so i tried downloading firefox and opera, and the issue persists. then i tried emailing steam deck tech support and they told me it sounded like a software issue, and that they can only help with hardware issues(paraphrasing on this one).

anyone else have the same problem and figure out how to fix it?
