can you go from couch coop to online multiplayer?

my friend and i have been playing a lot of couch coop stardew on the xbox since i have been staying at her house and i bought my console with me. i’m going home tomorrow and we wanted to know if she bought stardew on her xbox if we could continue the same save file without having to make a third player?
