(DA:V spoiler!) How a small thing changes everything!
Okay , this is a really small detail , but I feel like it capsulate how Veilguard deals with the old story. This detail a lot of fans even get wrong but I feel it important. In a Veilguard flashback of Solas's past you heard this:
"I don't need to hear from Mythal's annoying lap dog. Every lap dog had a wolf inside."
The game writers would have you believed. This is the reason he has called "the Dread Wolf". This not true.
In elven culture wolf were like there dogs. You Easily find the codex for this in Inquisition. Hunters would often have wolves with them. That's why there so much Imagery of wolves and wolf statues because they're honoring their pets. This also confirmed by Solas in the last game Saying it was an
"insult taken as a badge of honor"
When they called him the dread wolf" It was like them calling him a "mad dog". Which now makes sense because otherwise you kinda of just gave him a cool nickname.
But Veilguard completely misses point and creates plotholes by having "wolf" being interpreted the same way we would like "fox".
Veilguard just has one of the characters just straight up says that every single statue of a wolf is of the Dread wolf.
Solas/Dread Wolf whole thing Is not wanting to be a god!!
Why would he have hundreds of golden statues of himself then?? In the exalted plains?? And in his own office?!
Maybe because they making memorials of their favorite animal? Man's/ Elf's best friend?
I know this sound like a little thing and it is but just that fact alone makes a lot of the elven game areas no longer make sense. Elven design for Dragon Age has lots of wolves and now those rooms in all games included one in past don't make any sense.
Plus I wanted to focus on something different to Change up the discussion. And just show that the writers or whoever does not care about the details or big things!
