Update: Skyrim no sound

UPDATE: I still haven't been able to dig up the cause. Below is my original issue. I have discovered that if I play the game in the window mode I have no trouble with the sound. It's only in full screen when there is no in game sound.

"When I load into skyrim it will play the sound on the Bethedsa logo, but once the game is loaded in it makes no sound whatsoever. However there are no error messages so I can't figure out what is causing this problem.

I have loaded in through SKSE and through steam, I have taken off all my mods, reinstalled the game, checked file integrity, and made sure all my computer software is up to date. The only thing I can even guess at is that Skyrim runs off of DirectX9 and my computer runs on DirectX12, although DX12 is supposed to be able to support DX9 and I have even tried downloading their pack that includes DX9 files. Could this be it? And if so, how can I fix it?

I have launched other old games like Portal that have no problem at all, so it has to be specific to Skyrim. I think anyway.

Any ideas on what I can check next to try and get this working?"
