[PSA] Intermittent Fasting helped clear my acne!

I want to know if anyone else has experienced this. I’ve had acne since the 4th grade, I am now 20. My acne was so bad in 4th grade my teacher sent me to the nurse because she thought it was chicken pox. Yeah, I know....

After years and years of going to the dermatologists, using proactiv, cleaning up my diet, doing more exercise, changing my routine to acne fighting ingredients and washing my makeup brushes, I still CONSTANTLY had acne. I got on birth control when I was 15, which helped considerably, but it was still there. I always had at least 2 zits on my face, coupled with whatever acne scars were fading.

A few weeks ago I decided to try intermittent fasting because I wanted to lose a pound and a half. So I only eat from 12-7. I essentially just skip breakfast, and snack less throughout the day. Besides the other benefits of losing that pound and a half and feeling less bloated... my skin cleared up! I have not had a zit on my face in a week. My acne scars are healing, and nothing is replacing them.

My skincare routine hasn’t really changed much since I started IF. I’ve been using versed’s clarifying serum if I feel something coming under my skin, but it’s pretty good at keeping my skin looking fresh.

My current (and mostly cruelty free) routine is:

AM: Juice beauty cleanser

Seoul ceutical’s Vitamin c serum

Murad’s skin perfecting lotion

Throughout the day: wash my face with just water if I feel too oily. I only ever do this once or twice.

PM: Shiseido white lucent foaming face wash (my boyfriend got this for me as a gift before I was cruelty free, I love it but I unfortunately can’t purchase again)

Pixi retinol toner

Either TO granactive retinoid in 2% squalene or versed clarifying serum, depending on what my skin needs

Murad’s post and spot lightening gel

Hope in a jar renewed (also bought before CF, love it but won’t purchase again) with 2 drops of Julep’s boost your radiance serum
