All presidents traced back to one king

In 2011, a claim was made that most U.S. presidents are distantly related to King John of England (also known as John Lackland), who reigned from 1199 to 1216. This idea gained attention when a young girl named BridgeAnne d’Avignon, then 12 years old, created a family tree tracing the lineage of U.S. presidents. Using genealogical research, BridgeAnne reportedly found that all but one U.S. president (Martin Van Buren) could be traced back to a common ancestor — King John of England. This work was conducted using genealogical tools and databases with the help of her family and possibly other sources. King John of England was the youngest son of King Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine. He ruled England from 1199 until his death in 1216. John is best known for signing the Magna Carta in 1215. He also had close dealings and support from the Knights Templars, an organization that secret societies like Freemasonry can be traced back to.
