What’s a good way to screen or otherwise secure this gap in a metal roof ridge?
I bought a camp house a few years ago that had a fairly recent metal roof. The company that did it definitely took some shortcuts that have caused problems. One issue, that I didn’t really pay much attention to until I spent some time in the attic this weekend, is the large gap between the metal roof and the ridge cap. The opening is 1-2” vertically between the cap and roofing and runs the length of the house. There are no screens or anything to prevent debris or animals from coming in. If you look closely, you can see the large snake skins, which is probably the only reason the rodent problems aren’t worse than they are.
I was considering putting wire mesh screen over the gap between the decking boards at the top but I’m afraid it will get totally clogged with leaves and debris pretty quick. Is there a better solution or should I leave it as is and just rake the attic every so often?
