PLEASE SOMEONE CREATE A DATING RESIDENCY SUBREDDIT
For the love of medicine, one of y’all needs to create a dating residency subreddit. I understand this sub is supposed to be about all things residency, but the number of dating posts seriously deserves its own sub. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, because obviously people are struggling in that aspect. And I completely agree — it’s pretty easy to feel lonely in residency.
I can sum up nearly all of these posts by one of these:
- Plenty of people have dated and found SO’s in residency. You are not the first person to be single in residency. You make time for what’s important to you — relationships and dating included.
- No, it’s not cool to date your supervising attending.
- Sure, you can date someone in the hospital or in your program but it can get messy. But it could also work out.
- Chances are, you’re probably on the younger side (younger than 35), and even if you’re not, plenty of people find their person AFTER residency
- Stop blaming residency for the reason you can’t find someone. Again, plenty of people have dated and found SO’s in residency. I’m not saying it’s easy, but some self introspection and honesty is important. Perhaps you need to work on yourself in some way.
Please continue to add to this list. Someone should create that sub because I also think it would be interesting.
