Black Summer is Great

His accent is a little weird, but after a few listens you’ll get used to it. Too many people hate on the song, and as UL’s #1 fan, I need more people to also realize the song is amazing. It doesn’t have the funky aspect, but RHCP songs can be good without funk, which a surprising amount of people don’t agree with.

JF’s chords matched with the little licks are really calming and clean, which build nicely for the first appearance of the loud, powerful chorus. The chorus is followed by a great solo afterwards, which was JF’s first real solo back with the band, and it was great for his first returning song. The 2nd chorus hits hard after the small bridge, which really keeps the song nice and energetic. Then JF changes to some AMAZING chords, matched with AK’s strong but great vocals, with Flea being just as prevalent as JF towards the end. It’s a perfect starter song for the album IMO, and one of the best songs in the album.

IMO, UL is the best album since SA, and Black Summer is everything I hoped for as a starting song, and as a song in general for JF’s returning album. The song is way overhated, and needs some more appreciation because it’s a great song.
