My Review of Rebel Moon (The Directors Cut)

I didn't hate Rebel Moon Part One, but I absolutely got the criticism of it. The Directors Cut, however? Different ball game. I did however, dislike Rebel Moon Part Two. And I thought they added up, to a pretty terrible movie... with paper thin characters, weird dialogue and action,

Some Directors cuts are "additional scenes". Sometimes, its an alternate version of the film. In this case, I believe the full version doesn't work as movie. Or I just don't like it.

The "Directors Cut" seems like the ACTUAL film.

With the "PG 13" version, the narrative and characters down to their bare minimum to be passable. What kind of a film is made like that? It's hard to make a great movie. You think you're gonna get one with this "the algorythm shows..." attitude. This was a failed experiment. But I think Zack thought it'd be worth failing to get the movie out there. Still, what we got almost felt like "content".

This is different.

With the Directors Cut, you can feel why he really wanted to do this. You feel the passion in this passion project. you feel the craftsmanship and technique of an experienced director who is passionate about cinema. Apparently he's been wanting to make this film since he was a student. These versions certainly seem WAY more satisfying. And that's why I believe it's a solid Zack Snyder effort, unlike the PG 13 cuts.

This is the movie people wanted to make. I don't know what that other version is.

Now, some people are going to disagree and still dislike it. If you hate all of Zack Snyder's movies, or you don't get why some people really enjoy his take on the cinematic experience or whatever, it's probably not going to win you over.

But if you enjoy at least one or two of his films, there's a strong chance you there's an awesome 5 hour epic space saga filled with sex, blood and Star Wars.

This is closer to the improvement of Justice League, than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It's weirdly closer to the passion you feel watching Dune or Avatar (but again, as a Zack Snyder film) than I ever thought it would be. It's a HIGH in his filmography... unlike his other one.
