UPDATE: Horror story- my absolute nightmare just occurred (trigger warning: baby rat experienced head and eye trauma)

FAITH IS ALIVE AND WELL.
She is an absolute trooper. She spent the first night in the emergency vet's ICU getting oxygen, and remained stable. Her respiratory and heart rate remained normal, and she was eating and drinking and completely mobile.
The next night, they performed the enucleation, and let me know that there was a heavy chance she would not survive the operation. BUT SHE DID. Little baby survived, and was up and about shortly after waking up.
Her head is still swollen, but they did an Xray to see if it was fluid/blood or air, and if it was inside her skull or just sub dermal. The good news is that it is just air and it is sub dermal.
They are thinking she injured her sinuses in the fall, which will heal and the air will be naturally absorbed and the swelling will go down.
We picked her up yesterday afternoon and the total bill was just over $600. A hefty expense during the holiday season, but I am so happy we took a chance on her. The swelling has migrated backwards a bit, away from her face and more toward the back of her head. She is adjusting well to having one eye, and she is still as sweet as can be. Enjoying lots of snuggles and snacks. She is currently in a hospital cage, but will be reunited with her littermate when her stitches absorb.
Reddit, meet little faith, a 5 week old miracle pup.
