Updated ArkOS. Fast Forward Button?

So I just updated ArkOS. Now the select button+start dont quit a game but the FN button + Start button do and now FN functions as a fast forward button lol. Why is this? Additionally, ArkOS or maybe RetroArch(?) user interface doesnt look the same when I go to select the savestates etc. I liked the way it looked/functioned on the original included SD card. I hope this makes sense!
