Why do so many people hate powerscaling?

Even with debates aside, I don't know why people absolutely dog on powerscaling. Even the Shin Megami Tensei fandom hates it when it's just people having fun.

Like most of the time, powerscaling isn't hurting anyone or really plaguing a fandom. Like yeah, there are a good handful of powerscalers in the SMT community but it isn't a constant stream. I get that powerscaling is nerd shit, but isn't that what keeps a series alive or at least plays a part?

Powerscaling is essentially just a form of media analysis and a way of showing dedication to a series as it takes effort to rewatch episodes and search for scans. I myself am a solo powerscaler who doesn't really debate and I find it very fun.

I just hate how powerscaling has gotten such a bad reputation and I hate how people always bring up the point that it's fiction and the author is in full control. All fun is allowed in a community except powerscaling. That's where people draw the line.
