Five gallon for college dorm

I am a pretty experienced aquarium keeper, and I’m now going to a college roughly 2 hours from my home.

I have brought a planted five gallon with me and I was wondering what I could keep in it. I have heard that a pea puffer, a betta or shrimp would be my options among some others such as honey gourami or killifish.

I was wondering how plausible it would be to keep shrimp or a pea puffer as I know they are more sensitive species and the tank will need moving over breaks back to my home. I’m not quite sure what the conditions of my college water are yet as I have yet to bring over my water testing kit.
