Pixel 8 Pro Audio Issue (Water Damage) - Fix
Merry Christmas Everyone!
I'm a proud Pixel 8 Pro owner, following ownership of the P7Pro. Unfortunately, I dropped my phone in some water for albeit a few seconds, which was enough to get inside both the bottom and top speaker.
These are the fixes I used and I've outlined what areas they helped:
Water Removal Sound (This helped to fix the bottom speaker more so than the top due to the low frequency response) https://youtu.be/qhItAtZDzU8?si=bvflie0sas4nxcgR
Toothbrush for the top speaker. Gently place the fibres inside the speaker (NOT TOO FAR) and pull from one side to the other a few times.
Rice overnight with the phone faced screen down. This is to absorb any moisture overnight.
Although the bottom speaker worked fine after all the above, the top speaker continued to crackle despite everything including a very quick blast with the hairdryer. There was definitely still some water lodged in that speaker which I just couldn't reach. However, I found a very simple fix.
At the top right hand side of the phone, there is a microphone hole. There is space internally between the microphone and the top speaker. I placed my mouth around that top microphone and puffed a load of air into it. Immediately, a small amount of water spat out and the top speaker was cleared.
After a quick audio test, everything was back to normal and I didn't have to BS my way through a warranty claim.
This might not work for everyone but it should give some ideas for fixes if anyone has a similar issue!
Thanks
