What do you think of Le Labo city exclusives? + reviews of 4 of them
Le Labo is quite a popular brand, but their city exclusive line I rarely see in collection pists or discussions. So I was wondering what the perfumes subreddits thoughts are.
The city exclusive collection is exactly what its name is: certain cities worldwide have an exclusive perfume. Like for example Tabac for Miami. During the whole year, Tabac is only available in selected Le Labo shops in Miami. The rest of the year, there is no other way to obtain or sample Tabac. In the month of August, you are able to order samples for all the city exclusive perfumes through the Le Labo website. Followed by the month of September where all thr city exclusives full bottles will be available on the Le Labo website. This can be seen in my opion as both severe FOMO marketing or a cool and unique concept.

I have been able to sample 4 of them:
-Mousse de Chene is the city exclusive from my country and is a beautifull oakmoss scent. It starts of a bit "wet" like you are in the forrest when it rains, but without a dirt or earthy smell. The patchouli kicks in after a while which gives it a bit of a dirt smell. But not dirt in the woods, but dirt that you use for a house plant. The wet forrest smell stays the whole time and after a while a teeny bit of cinnamon and pepper is noticeable. It is very much a skin scent, but it does stay a good 9 hours on my skin. I very much love it, I am a big fan of petrichor esque perfumes.
-Tabac is like Maison Margielas Jazz Club, but more potent and more tradionally masculine. Very storng tobacco woody smell with some boozy undertones. I feel like a mob boss when wearing it and that I am running a Speak Easy in the 1920s. While this perfume also very much CEO. I am a woman but I also really like to wear masculine targeted fragrances and Tabac is no exception. Like I wrote before, this is very potent and I can still smell it on my skin 2 days and multiple showers later and on my coat it still had a faint whiff of it after 2 weeks. So spray with somewhat of a caution.
-Limette is old money chic. Limette does not scream, but whispers and is effortlessly. Its heavy on the lime at the start and has a bit of a soapy quality to it. It dries down in a quiet musky scent with some whiffs of bergamot and jasmine. It also conjures the image of fog, like a fog slowly creeping up on you. This is such a perfect scent for first impressions: applying for a job, first dates, meeting the in laws etc.
-Tubereuse has the central note of tuberose and Gucci Bloom is one of my favorite fragrances of all time. But while Guccu Bloom is very strong and stoic (like how the color white would smell) and another tuberose heavy scent like Diptyques Do Son does tuberose in a more moody and animalic way, Tubereuse is fun and carefree. The abuandance of bergamot, tangerine, petigrain and orange blossom blast you in a way that smells like the most expensive blend of notes I ever smelled. It then dries down and in anout 30 minutes the tuberose makes its apperance, while still keeping some of that previous citrus heavy notes and after 2 or so more hours a bit of woody notes join the rest of the party. Its a very bouncy fragrance, it makes me want to get up and dance or just be around people. Such a carefree feeling, almost nostalgic like bring a high schooler and teenage crushes was the number 1 of my worries. Tubereuse does not smell like a typical "teen marketed" perfume though, it always keeps that expensive blend vibe from its initial blast. Longlivity is about 6ish hours, which is not as long as the others but reapplying that first spray on a nearly dried down spray smells very nice. Sillage is a skin scent for sure.
