An itinerary review,s’il vous plaît?
Bonjour! Thanks again to everyone who patiently and kindly gave valuable feedback on my previous itinerary post. I would be grateful for any thoughts on my revised plans!
To recap, we are arriving on the Eurostar late on the evening of the 22nd June (Saturday) and staying in an Airbnb in Enghien-les-Bains (accommodation is right outside the train station). We are enthusiastic walkers, but I realised that my previous itinerary was quite tiring, so hopefully the revised plans have more breathing space for rest and simply taking in the city!
Day 1: Saturday
Evening: Arrival in Enghien-les-Bains, settle into accommodation by 8 pm, and rest for the night.
Day 2: Sunday
Leave accommodation around 8.30 am to travel into the city. Sacré-Cœur Basilica and Place du Tertre and general exploration of Montmatre (with sit-down lunch somewhere in the area), walk to Gustave Moreau museum for about 2 pm. Head back to airBnb for early evening and dinner.
Day 3: Monday
Morning: Sainte Chapelle and Notre Dame, explore Ile de la Cite and have a coffee/rest, walk to Jardin du Luxembourg and spend time relaxing in the gardens, early evening back to airbnb
Day 4: Tuesday
Day trip to Versailles (9 am tickets booked) and back to airbnb
Day 5: Wednesday
Start a bit late (10 am) and have lunch in the city, leisurely walk to Musee D'Orsay (afternoon tickets), relax on the Seine river cruise, grab early dinner to go and return to AirBnb.
Day 6: Thursday
9.30 am Louvre tickets, relax/have a picnic lunch in the Jardin des Tuileries for a couple of hours, go to the L'Orangerie museum OR skip L'orangerie together and simply walk around/enjoy a drink/spend time in the city until we feel like heading back to the AirBnB
Day 7: Friday
Early tickets to go up the Eiffel Tower, rest of the day free to explore a neighbourhood, back to Airbnb
Day 8: Saturday
Breakfast near Gare Du Nord before heading back on the Eurostar
Still TBC:
- I am yet to book any lunch/dinner spots, as I wanted to have my basic itinerary figured out
Is this itinerary any better than my first go? Am I missing something glaringly obvious?
My nationality makes it a fairly strenuous experience to obtain a visa to travel to Europe, hence the temptation to pack in more is very strong, but I'm reminding myself that this will hopefully be the first of several trips to Paris, so the important thing is to leave time for spontaneous discoveries and simply experiencing the spirit of the city.
Thanks again for your time in reading this - merci!
