(This is why) I think the livestream was muted

I believe the livestream was prerecorded and muted on purpose. There was a sudden cut in the middle of the recording but it didn’t seem like it froze or a lag glitch. It seemed more like an edit. Also, if it were an accident, you would think that they would have acknowledged it by now somehow.

Anyways, I think the reason why it was silent lends itself to the meaning behind the song “This Is Why”. As the song and music video explores, the media bombards them and expects so much of them as celebrities. They, especially Hayley, are always under public scrutiny for anything that they say or do. Everyone has an opinion about them. Being muted during the broadcast is a way for them to take back some of their power. We can’t hear what they are saying, so there is nothing to judge them for. They metaphorically said “if you have an opinion, maybe you should shove it” lol.

I mean, or it could have also been a fluke and I’m over analyzing it. What do you guys think?
