Understanding Vacuum System Operation
Hello everyone,
I am looking to understand the operation of a vacuum system using vacuum cups to lift metal plates. Below is the configuration of the system I have (see attached image):
- Vacuum Generator (1) equipped with a digital sensor VS-V-D PNP (2).
- Electrical connector for pilot valve (3) of the vacuum generator.
- (4) An electric actuated 3/2-way distributor from Airtec (reference: ME-05-311-HN) connected to the output of the vacuum generator.
- (5) Another Airtec distributor (reference: RE 04-V-EP) that communicates via AS-i protocol.
- This unit integrates two (6) monostable 5/2 solenoid valves (reference: Airtec MF-04-510-HN).
I would like to control these actuators (vacuum generator, distributors, and solenoid valves) directly from a Siemens S1200 PLC to aspirate and hold the metal plates using the vacuum cups.
- I have successfully established communication with the vacuum generator and its vacuum switch (VS-V-D PNP), as well as the electrical connector for valve control.
- However, I am struggling to understand the complete operation, especially the interaction between the distributors and solenoid valves from point (1) to point (6) in the diagram.
Has anyone worked on this type of installation with vacuum cups controlled by a PLC, and could provide insights on how to manage these components (particularly the relationship between the distributors and solenoid valves)? I would like to understand how to set up the PLC inputs and outputs for these devices.
Thank you in advance for your help!
