Thoughts on the DLSU's roster

I'll start off with the new guys coming in

Mason Amos - looks like an athlete now and moves differently than before. Laterally, still needs work to defend the quicker players but he's made some defensive plays: He blocked Charlton's shot attempt.

As an offensive player, we know he can shoot but what I like about Mason is his maturity. He looks like a vet out there. Vocal where his teammates need to be, what they need to do and recognizes and takes advantage of mismatches.

CJ Amos - Can shoot and has a step back J when opponents go hard on closeouts.

Overall, he still needs to work on his strength. He blew two layups that was a direct result of not going up strong. He's still adjusting to the speed and physicality of the game here.

Needs seasoning to become a reliable rotation cos right now I just don't see him filling up the big shoes that Austria left.

Luis Pablo - has moments naman. I dont think he'll replicate his dominance in the NCAA Jrs division but he'll still be serviceable especially with rebounding and defense. His offensive game is still unpolished and his shot is not there so that limits what he can provide there. Unless he works at it, he'll just be OK.

Matt Rubico - his game is predicated in the open floor where his speed and handle allows him to get to the hole. If he can add an in between game and an off the dribble game, that PG rotation will suddenly look deadly. But temper your expectations as Jake and Kean WILL have the ball in their hands and off the bench, I expect Topex to utilize Matt as a facilitator again..Honestly, if I were him, I'd leave DLSU if things don't change soon. He's way too good to just be a facilitator. He'll be a monster in the NCAA.

Dom Sarmiento - still working on his skillset, learning the game, and getting a stronger body. He's got a smooth stroke but that's yet to translate in the game. He doesn't have a nose for the ball. His body has filled out since last time we saw him. Goes to show that he's been putting in work and that S&C staff of DLSU is no joke.

Jake Cortez - obviously this guy is special. I don't think there's anything to add here. Same with Kean, who sat out the last game.

Yusuf & Konov didn't play unfortunately.

EDIT: as mentikned sa broadcast, CJ Amos is playing for DLSU sa Pinoyliga cup to the test the waters but he is NOT enrolled yet likely because the first sem sa DLSU is still months away. He is probably staying with his brother in DLSU.
