What are the mimics?

They are perfect look- alikes of the reagents first of all (obviously) but are they human? Or are they Some high tech robot ? My theory is they're clones made using the reagents DNA which honestly might be the most reasonable explanation as to why they are identical to the reagents I know it's a stretch but I can't think of anything that's not also a scooby doo trope
