I have to be honest: I'm disappointed in Deathtrap
I was actually excited to try it out, because some of the changes sounded pretty cool, but after playing it a little bit, I'm pretty unhappy with everything so far. Let me also be upfront and confess that I haven't gotten that far , and part of that is because playing the game sucked all the will to continue playing it.
Threads don't feel fun or satisfying. You start off hobbled right away in some way, and the ones that benefit you don't seem like that much of a benefit. 20% damage buff for my useless overdrive? Or how about 25% increased damage while in air, which is even more useless? Gee, thanks.
Mana is gone and secondary abilities have cooldowns instead, and I don't like that one bit. They all feel just a little bit too long. Especially the cat's throwing knives.
Speaking of the cat, I hate all the starting war mages. Give us a character creator, please.
The cat's knives feel alright, zipping around with them is fun, but I need more barricades to manage the flow of enemies - and the game restricts the number of barricades you can use. Mercifully they are free now, but 16 doesn't feel like enough ON THE FIRST MISSION, when there are multiple angles of attack for the four doors they throw at you.
If the goal was to coax me to play with random people to do that, then the developers have failed, instead it just makes me feel penalized because I have one friend interested in OMD, and our schedules don't really line up these days.
Oh and it looks ugly on Xbox. Sorry, it just does.
