Upgraded from a 7-Year-Old DX Racer to a Steelcase Leap – My Experience
After using a DX Racer for seven years, I finally decided to upgrade. I didn’t know much about ergonomic chairs before doing my research, but I quickly realized there were much better options out there.
A few years ago, I briefly tried a Herman Miller Mirra 1, but the plastic back dug into my shoulder blades, making it uncomfortable. That experience made me cautious about mesh-backed chairs, so I started looking into more cushioned options.
I ended up going with a refurbished Steelcase Leap (v2) for €625 in Europe. It’s basically a showroom model in brand-new condition with a 3-year warranty. I was also considering the Herman Miller Embody, but the sales rep told me that the Leap has more adjustments, which won me over. My Thoughts After Using the Leap
✅ Comfort: I can sit in this chair for hours without any discomfort. The padding is great, and I don’t feel any pressure points.
✅ 4D Armrests: These are by far my favorite feature. The adjustability makes a huge difference.
✅ Cross-Legged Sitting: I love that I can sit cross-legged comfortably, which was impossible in my old chair. Only Negative – Wobbly Armrests
The only downside I’ve noticed is that the armrests have some wobble to them. Is this normal for the Leap? It’s not a dealbreaker, but I was expecting them to feel a bit more solid.
Overall, I’m really happy with this upgrade. If anyone else is considering the Leap, I’d definitely recommend it!
