Could Europe go its own way?

What's happening in the US is beyond scary, and I think that there's no European that doesn't see the parallelisms with our darkest past.

Is there any way we could just part ways with what has been our strongest ally? Economically and geopolitically speaking, could we maintain our lifestyle and influence after an hypothetical cut of ties?
