An Interlopers guide to living frigates

In my previous post i had quite a few people ask how to get living frigates and/or find more since the Dream Aerial only works once so alot of players thought it's broken. Technically it sorta is after recruiting your first living frigate but it also works as intended (i assume). I explained it to someone in a comment and alot of people found it clear and helpful, so this is just a 1 to 1 copy of my comment, just thought i'd make a standalone post so more people can see how to get them:

How to find living frigates

-Send your frigates to expeditions with atleast 3 star difficulty, the longer the expedition the better, since your frigates will grab more loot due to longer duration

-Eventually you'll get a Dream Aerial from one of the expeditions, along with the blueprint to craft them

-Put the Dream Aerial in your ship inventory and engage pulse drive (L1 + R1) and wait for the Dream Aerial to pick up a megafauna signal

-Disengage pulse drive once a cosmic megafauna (aka living frigate) has been located, "talk" to it until you can recruit it as a frigate. Make sure you have atleast 1 of the 30 frigate slots free.

IMPORTANT! After recruiting your first living frigate the game tells you to delete the dream aerial. The dream aerial does guarantee only one single living frigate but keep it, or if you deleted it craft a new one. The new one will not guarantee another living frigate but you need a dream aerial to find more, here are the following steps:

-You need Anomaly Detectors which you rarely get by shooting asteroids. Either farm alot of them or get just one and duplicate more with the mobile refinery glitch (i recommend watching a youtube video if you dont know it). Tip from me: You can stack multiple refineries ontop of eachother and then dismantle them again for faster duplication.

-In space, with the dream aerial in ship inventory, activate an Anomaly Detector and engage pulse drive again. The anomaly detector will soon find a space anomaly. If it finds one, don't brake out of pulse drive. At the top of the screen it will say something alike "Anomaly Detected / Drop out of pulse drive to engange". Ignore it. For living frigates it has to say "Whalesong detected". Thats when you jump out of pulse drive. Go to the living frigate and recruit it.

Additional Info

Each system only has one specific living frigate, you can find more but they will all have the exact same models, stats and class can be different tho. So you have to warp to another system and repeat the Anomaly detector step until you get a Whalesong again, drop out of pulse drive and a new living frigate will be there.

Getting to 30 can go rather quick, or it can take literal hours depending on RNG. Since there are so many anomalies, it can take you like a 20 minute pulse drive until a whalesong gets detected. The detector picks up a new target every 20 seconds so i recommend doing something on your phone while checking for whalesongs. All in all it took me around 6 hours in total to get all my 30 frigates, and i didnt even care what class, most of them are C. Since frigates gradually rank up in class when sending them on expeditions, class at recruiting ultimately doesn't really matter anyways.

If there are any questions about this process feel free to ask. Happy Interloping 🤙🏻
