Overspec Anis Speculation

Alright, so after the Rapi Event, final scene with Anis’ decision that she needs to do what she needs to do, I got to wondering. It’s been all but confirmed that Anis is the Nikke created from Pretty after her assassination.

So if she really was a pop idol as a human, it makes sense that Mustang would want her to be from his Tetra line of Nikkes. She’s got some kind of deal with Mustang. When he was first introduced in Ch. 4, he asks Anis a seemingly innocuous question, “…when will you come back to me?” To which she replies, “Um, I can’t just yet.” At the time, that was just some basic dialogue, but now, it seems based off of what we know, Mustang probably intended on Anis reprising her roll as a pop idol.

Something clearly happened though. When Anis first met Rapi and she assumed that Rapi recognized her as an idol, we can assume that either she performed after becoming a Nikke OR she was recognizable because Anis looks like Pretty. However, I’m not so sure about the latter. It wouldn’t make sense for Anis to look like Pretty because the Ark would have to falsify reports of what happened after such a high profile assassination and then she wouldn’t be able to walk anywhere around the Ark without someone calling her Pretty. IIRC, the general public is not aware that the members of Prima Donna squad are Nikkes. So maybe Anis was a Pretty-Part 2 attempt by Mustang.

What happened though that made Anis leave Mustang’s immediate plans for her remains to be seen, but I anticipate her life as Pretty has something to do with it. Possibly a result of her seeing and maybe being subject the under belly of being an idol. Dark dealings and money as part of the business of trying to keep the Ark’s citizens minds occupied. Ugly and terrible people using her for her star power but treating her like sh!t behind the scenes. Something happened that shaped her antiestablishment and negative views towards the Ark and humanity. Maybe her becoming a Nikke gave her the opportunity to start another life outside of the limelight and her antics forced the Ark to place her eventually with Rapi as troublemakers.

As for the event itself, I anticipate that her overspec will be an Idol costume with an Idol group kind of event. Pretty Idol Anis. I’m sure there will be gacha idol costumes for other characters. But overspecs are probably going to be drip fed to us just as often as Pilgrim banners. Maybe 2 a year, if that. I look forward to it though. Anis has been just as mysterious as Rapi, but we’ve had more of Rapi’s backstory given to us of the course of the main story. And as a fan favorite, a lot of us are going to go nuts over a new Anis banner. Just speculation, but it sounds like it’s lining up.
