Autonomic dysregulation
Anybody else here who's just finding out about all the OTHER stuff that narcolepsy impacts, besides the obvious symptoms? I've spent a lot this past year on a bunch of issues that all turned out to be narcolepsy. GI, urinary tract, vision issues, and now my heart. Turns out my haywire heart rate and randomly fluctuating BP are ALSO NARCOLEPSY, all aspects of autonomic dysregulation. I had to wear a heart monitor for a week, and at the end of it, my cardiologist is confounded and fascinated, because she's never seen anything quite so bizarrely erratic. 🤣 Just another way that too little orexin messes with every aspect of your parasympathetic nervous system. Temperature regulation, digestion, bladder control, heart rate, BP - all of these can be affected. That's both reassuring (it's just more narcolepsy) and also makes me want to scream just a little. Seriously, cataplexy and nightmares and hallucinations and sleep paralysis weren't enough?? There's MORE?! 😤
