What happens if you opt to not renew CCW?

Interesting one for yall… asking for a friend.

Say a buddy gets their CCW but doesn’t use it and has no reason to renew… they decide not to renew, thereby letting their CCW expire.

A year later, they decide that they want a CCW again.

Is it a weird look or is it the same renewal process and totally normal no matter how much time lapses once expired?

Are they risking any future rights by not renewing soon after expiry?
