Miyoo Mini Plus battery and why
I've been seeing a lot of "My battery is crappy" posts since joining this sub. I don't disagree lol, but I also get why some people can get 8 hours and other people like myself are getting a bit more than 2 hours. I think I've kind of narrowed down a couple culprits, a couple false positives, and a couple not so bad, and I'll rank what I think impacts the battery most from highest to lowest. I'm hoping to receive some validation from other users regarding my findings.
1) Wi-Fi in game for Retroachievements or sitting in main menu with something like FTP enabled seems to be a massive battery draw.
2) GBA emulation with overlays, really any newer generation system, with special overlays (like the Perfect sets) enabled as well as playing demanding games like rom hacks (this game is Pokémon Unbound) push the MM+ to its limits. Feel the device after a bit - it's hot!
3) Surprisingly overclocking the CPU (cpuclock.txt set at 1800) and running older consoles or systems didn't really impact much as the newer systems.
4) I play at around 6 brightness but prefer 7 or 8 for GBA. I haven't noticed much gains when lowering the brightness a couple notches. Of course there are some gains made by lowering the brightness below 50%, but it's not really worth it.
*Now some other items. *
5) I've seen some posts about volume. I can't say for certain that pumping higher volume kills battery life. I did do the better speaker mod (Etsy) very quickly after purchasing my MM+ though.
6) System storage, indexing, etc. I've seen some posts in Android communites about how certain devices can be "indexing/optimizing" storage too much and having lower storage cards can benefit battery life. I've only used a 128GB card with around 50 games for each system on my device. No rom sets or anything special for me so I can't attest to large cards, indexing and file searches. Also, yes, I know this isn't running Android.
7) I saw somebody suggest unplugging the battery and/or letting the device go from 100 to 0% and vice versa. These battery performance tests don't seem to attribute to anything and most lithium batteries don't enjoy the extreme lows or highs so to get the best life out of your battery long-term please don't do that.
8) Things I cannot attest to include uninstalling certain apps like that OnionOS's Activity Tracker and Battery Monitor. I have always had these running. I don't these apps drain your battery.
