TMo directly to Metro for $25 BYOD plan?
Hi,
one of the lines on our TMo account wants to split and move to Metro. Metro seems to be the only pre-paid service that also has a number sharing watch plan for their Galaxy watch (5 Pro?). A couple of questions (and yes, I've looked on Metro's website and through Reddit :)
- The watch plan will share the number with the phone, correct? They don't want to deal with forwarding calls to and replying from another #.
- The website says "$25 activation fee may apply", not sure if it's for all devices, or just tablets or... Is there a way to avoid paying the fee?
- The phone is a Samsung S23 Ultra, and it already has an e-SIM from Tello on their secondary phone number. It looks like only one e-SIM can be active at once on that phone, so they'll need a physical SIM card from Metro. That means going to the store to do the port and get the SIM card, correct? Is there an activation fee on ported lines, too?
- Finally, it looks like there's conflicting info on whether the $25 BYOD plan works when transferring from TMo. Metro's website says one can't port directly from TMo for that plan, but I've seen many responses on Reddit that one can... Would it be safer to move to, say, Tello, for a month (ignoring the watch) and then port to Metro?
Basically, could someone tell me how to proceed step by step in porting that line to Metro? Thanks a ton in advance!!
