Are the passthrough cameras supposed to be this bad?

Like, I know it's not their real purpose or anything, but everything looks super grainy and oversaturated. If I even try to look at my phone through them, I can't make out any of the text. Am I doing something wrong? Are there settings that can be messed with? Thanks,
