Should I get a 2nd dog?

I have a 1 year old female maltese. Sometimes I feel sorry for her because I think she may be bored/lonely even though we obviously play with her and we don’t leave her alone. I’m just thinking would it be a good idea to get another maltese. She’s okay with other dogs she has never snapped or growled but I’m terrified I’ll get a new dog and bring it home and she won’t like her… have people any experience with this? Thanks!
