Ford Upsells (Warranty, Maintenance, etc).
In buying my 2023 Mach-E recently, the salesman managed to upsell me on a bunch of packages Ford was offering:
—Premium EV Maintenance: all the inspections and maintenance stuff for the next six years (tire rotations, wipers, fluids, filters, brake pads and linings, shocks). —Premium EV Care: Extra warranty on…almost everything, it looks like? The brochure is enormous. —And of course, the dealer’s proprietary “Cilajet Ultimate Protection” that supposedly covers the inside and outside of the car in various protective layers and lets me get repairs or replace all the surfaces should something happen.
It’s too late for me; I got suckered in (and frankly, it’s my first new car in 20 years, I got a good enough deal on it that not having to worry about this stuff is worth the extra cost).
That said, is all this stuff worth it? Mostly asking for anyone browsing the sub that might be looking at a Mach-E and is likely going to get pitched this stuff too. For folks who have been driving these longer (or know more about EVs in general than I do), what’s your opinion?
