GE is fucking us. They made billions on us being essential workers.
While their tech staff and engineers got to work from home for years, we were forced to come into work during ice storms under the threat of suspension or termination. We didn’t receive a single bonus for everything we endured during COVID.
Now, they’ve rolled out our new contract, and it’s a slap in the face. They’re removing Election Day from our vacation days, trying to spin military leave like it’s some amazing perk (when it’s literally required by law), and offering a pitiful $1,500 ratification bonus. After taxes, we’d only see about $700 of that.
Meanwhile, new hires at UPS are making more than us. New hires. They’re out-earning employees who’ve been at GE for over five years.
This company doesn’t care about its union workers. And from what I’ve seen, they don’t seem to care much about their corporate employees either. Maybe this time, corporate will step up and help us, because we’re not going to keep tolerating this disrespect.
