DO NOT BUY LENOVO COMPUTER

We purchased a high-end Lenovo laptop from Best Buy on September 7, 2024. This was to support the computer requirement of my son's college.

After approximately two weeks of use, the computer power on/off button stopped working.

We visited the BestBuy store in San Luis Obispo on September 29,  2024. The manager acknowledged the issue and replaced the computer with the same one. The replacement record is attached

After using the new replaced  computer for approximately 6 weeks,  we experienced other major issues:

 - the volume up/down button stopped functioning

-  E, D, and C keys stopped functioning completely. This render computer useless.

We visited again BestBuy on November 24, 2024 (see attached record). The technician was unable to resolve the issue. The manager informed us that the computer was outside their return window and they could do nothing about it. He referred us to the manufacturer Lenovo.

We attempted to resolve the issue with Lenovo.

We contacted several Lenovo-authorized service centers listed at the Lenovo website. We were willing to bring a computer for repair there, despite being >100 miles away as we needed the computer to be repaired quickly in order to be used for school. One Lenovo service center replied that they do not repair this type of laptop as it is not an “enterprise” laptop but rather a “home-use” laptop. Other Lenovo service centers have never gotten back to us.

Our next attempt was to request a repair from Lenovo by submitting a service request approximately on December 1, 2024. Lenovo got back to us on December 3, 2024 with five different and complicated tests to perform. After an entire day of troubleshooting, the issue was not resolved. After this was not successful, we informed Lenovo on December 18, 2024, and requested a refund or replacement. We have not heard from Lenovo since.

note that this is the second brand-new Lenovo laptop where we experienced a major mechanical issue within several days or weeks after using it. We made several attempts to resolve the issue with both Best Buy and Lenovo. These issues negatively impact my son's college work for which is this computer essential.

UPDATE: anyone know if a chargeback would work in this scenario?
