Is there any talk, even marginal, about spelling reform in South Korea ?

I'm not fluent in Korean, but I studied it enough to notice that spelling clearly doesn't match pronunciation anymore and that there are in fact duplicate jamo for the same sounds:ㅐ ㅔ for /e/,ㅒㅖ for /je/, ㅙ ㅞ ㅚ for /we/.

In the past, other countries with the same "issue" did initiated spelling reforms. This is why, for example, Spanish only use f for /f/ and i for /i/ (in the past, ph and y were also used respectively for /f/ and /i/). Portugal did the same thing. On the other hand, French (my mother tongue) is the perfect example of what happens when no real reform is made to update spelling to the current pronunciation: it slowly but surely becomes an absolute mess.

So I'm wondering if there has been any Korean academic scholars or linguists discussing the need of a spelling reform.
