KKR Auction Planning
Plan A - To go for an Indian Captain who is part of the Indian team
Options - KL Rahul (15 cr), R Pant (20+ cr), I Kishan (15 cr) [Not counting S. Iyer 😞]
IMO, we should target KL here as he can be cheaper, Pant may be costly and we have to compromise on other aspects.
By doing so we can add another overseas fast bowler or play an overseas middle-order batsman.
Probable lineup
1. S. Narine
2. Indian Captain (15-20 cr)
3. A. Raghuvanshi (4cr)
4. R. Singh
5. D. Miller/ L Livingstone/ W Jacks/ Maxwell/ Stoinis/ V Iyer/ N Rana [Max budget - 8 cr]
6. A. Russell
7. R. Singh
8. Domestic All-rounder
9. H. Rana
10. V. Chakravarthy
11. OS Fast bowler - Rabada/ Hazlewood/ Boult/ Starc/ Farooqi/ Nortje [8 cr]
12. Indian fast Bowler or another OS Fast bowler [If we buy Iyer/Rana] - Mukesh/ Shami/ Prasidh/ Siraj [10 cr]
By doing so, we would need to add 6 other players to the base price. If the Indian captain goes for more than 20 cr, then we can't afford big names in the other 3 big purchases.
Plan B - To go for an overseas Captain
Options - J. Buttler (15 cr), P Salt (12 cr), A Markaram (6 cr)
IMO, we can go for the first two options but the ECB would be a headache to manage.
Probable lineup
1. S. Narine
2. Overseas Captain (12 - 15 cr)
3. A. Raghuvanshi (4cr)
4. R. Singh
5. V Iyer/ N Rana [Max budget - 8 cr]
6. A. Russell
7. R. Singh
8. Domestic All-rounder
9. H. Rana
10. V. Chakravarthy
11. OS Fast bowler - Rabada/ Hazlewood/ Boult/ Starc/ Farooqi/ Nortje [8 cr]
12. Indian fast Bowler - Mukesh/ Shami/ Prasidh/ Siraj [12 cr]
I don't want N Rana or Venky to be captain as captaincy is a tough job and an important aspect of winning the tournament. We have seen how a poor captaincy derailed a good team.
