Hokkaido vs Okinawa

I'm planning a solo trip to Japan for between April 23 to May 9 (ish) dates. I traveled last year to Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka, so looking for another area to explore. I'm mostly worried about Golden Week in the middle of my trip, so the few options I'm thinking of are:

• Hokkaido for the whole trip. Can catch cherry blossom season and rent a car to go around the island.
• Hokkaido for the first week, then Tokyo after when Golden Week starts.
• Okinawa for the first week, then Tokyo.

If there are any other ideas, would appreciate any ideas or other things to watch out for. Thanks!
