People tell me selling insurance just sells a dream.

Hello Im 20 (M) my work ethic is really good which is why I think I can succeed in this business. I understand it’ll be long days, Sleepless nights, times where no money will be made. And I’m all for it because to me thats exciting and makes me feel like I actually have something to achieve. I used to work two full time jobs 2pm-7am on repeat and that was fun to me. But every-time I tell someone (about 20 years older than me ) I’m going to sell insurance they seem to bring up how they “know people” who did this and didn’t make it or how people who sell insurance just sell a dream to beginner agents like ( myself ) that really discourages me into wanting to do it. If someone can give me some pointers or something it would really be appriciated.
