"Needs Washed" Speech Phenomena

I recently moved to Madison, WI and was called out by a couple of my new coworkers for a particular speech pattern I have regarding verbs such as "needs". I often require paperwork to be reviewed as part of my regular job duties, and will approach others by saying something like, "This report needs reviewed." Nothing about this sentence sounds off to me, but according to my coworkers it is incorrect and pretty noticeable.

I immediately reached out to my wife and some other friends from Indiana and found out that I'm clearly not the only one who does this, as they confirmed that they would say it the exact same way. It never really occurred to me that this in fact improper grammar, as I should have said, "This report needs to be reviewed." After a bit of research I found an interesting article discussing this exact phenomena and how its fairly common in Indiana.

Some other examples mentioned in the article.

" The car needs repaired"

"Cindy, this one [baby] just woke up and probably wants fed"

"The baby wants cuddled by her mother"

So, is this sort of grammar common in your part of Indiana?
