Does every IB French teacher purposely makes life hell?

I currently am in IB2 and I am taking French B SL. My teacher is a pain in the ass and assigns at least two 300-400 word essays per week, even during exam season. You might think that it sounds like little, but I would like to add that French is my worst lesson and I deeply struggle to stay afloat above a grade 5. Countless other students from my school and others as well share the same experience. They encounter an old, usually female, french teacher that assigns tons of homework and shows no passion or love for the lesson. It feels as if I spend more time staring at the clock, waiting for the lesson to finish rather than participating and putting in a bit of effort. Do others have the same experience or is it just my cursed school?
