Best way to bust rabbits out of burn piles?

I know daschounds are the best way but we don't have access to any.

I hunt apple orchards for rabbits. There are several burn piles of old apple trees ranging between 5ft-10ft high. Sometimes I can bust one or two rabbits by kicking it hard or shoving a stick inside, but they rarely run outside of the pile. There are thousands of tracks around them so I know it's FULL of em.

Any methods you guys use that just gets em running out of there? Would a firecracker work better?
